On Eve Of Electoral College Vote, Trump Warns They’d Be ‘Committing A Severely Punishable Crime’

After all the failed lawsuits, recounts, falsehoods and conspiracy theories, President Donald Trump issued a desperate Twitter tirade on the eve of the Electoral College certification.

Across all statehouses amid a pandemic, 538 electors are set to convene on Monday to cast their votes for either President-elect Joe Biden or Trump, reflecting the popular votes in their states. Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are expected to end the day with 306 electoral votes, topping Trump’s 232.

A day before the Electoral College meeting, which is usually just a formality that is rarely given much attention, Trump took to Twitter to once again push deranged lies claiming “Swing States that have found massive VOTER FRAUD.” They have not.

“Swing States that have found massive VOTER FRAUD, which is all of them, CANNOT LEGALLY CERTIFY these votes as complete & correct without committing a severely punishable crime. Everybody knows that dead people, below age people, illegal immigrants, fake signatures, prisoners and many others voted illegally,” Trump falsely claimed.

“Also, machine ‘glitches’ (another word for FRAUD), ballot harvesting, non-resident voters, fake ballots, ‘stuffing the ballot box’, votes for pay, roughed up Republican Poll Watchers, and sometimes even more votes than people voting, took place in Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and elsewhere,” he continued.

“In all Swing State cases, there are far more votes than are necessary to win the State, and the Election itself. Therefore, VOTES CANNOT BE CERTIFIED. THIS ELECTION IS UNDER PROTEST!” he desperately claimed.

Trump, who hasn’t been able to support claims of widespread voter fraud with a single shred of proof, has lost a barrage of lawsuits seeking to overturn the 2020 election.

He failed to convince lawmakers in states he lost such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia to certify their own separate slates of Trump electors.

“This is the moment of truth, and something that is already inexorable becomes fully locked in,” said Ben Wikler, a Wisconsin elector pledged for Biden and chairman of the state Democratic Party. “This year, more than ever, it’s almost a sacred act to cast the official votes that have been determined by voters to choose the most powerful person in the world.”

Trump also lashed out at the US Supreme Court on Sunday, tweeting: “The fact that the Supreme Court wouldn’t find standing in an original jurisdiction matter between multiple states, and including the President of the States, is absurd. It is enumerated in the Constitution. They just ‘chickened out’ and didn’t want to rule on the merits of the case. So bad for our Country!”
