Trump Jokes About Life-Threatening Sub-Zero Temperatures Across The Midwest. Gets Roasted By Twitter

Millions of Americans are in the path of the brutal winter storm and life-threatening low temperatures, with blizzard and winter storm warnings in effect across the Midwest.

A “polar vortex” will bring the coldest air seen in decades to the Midwest to the Northeast this week, with at least 55 million people facing temperatures at zero or below by the end of the week.

In Highland Park, Illinois, up to nine inches of snow is forecast with wind chill temps expected to reach about negative 50 degrees.

CBS News adds:

The bitter cold is prompting emergency warming shelters to be set up across the Midwest to the Northeast for those in need. EMTs in Milwaukee have seen an increase of 15 to 20 calls a day from the freezing temperatures. “Frostbites, hypothermia… and just people being out in the elements,” one EMT worker described.

President Donald Trump responded to dangerous weather by issuing a tweet joking about the life-threatening weather event.

“In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming [sic]? Please come back fast, we need you!” Trump tweeted Monday.

Trump’s tweet was met with scorn and ridicule on social media, with many noting that Sydney, Australia, is currently experiencing its hottest January on record:
