Obama also retweeted Bush’s tweet which read: “I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.”

Former President Obama quickly retweeted his wife’s post.
Obama’s tweet comes after Bush condemned the policy in a Washington Post op-ed on Sunday, calling the practice “cruel” and “immoral.”
“I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.”
First lady Melania Trump also weighed in on the policy on Sunday, saying she hates to see families separated at the border.
“Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform. She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart,” Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s communications director, said in a statement to The Hill.
Former first lady Hillary Clinton also condemned the policy on Monday and ripped Trump for “outright” lying to the American people by claiming his family separation policy is mandated by law.

“Those who selectively use the Bible to justify this cruelty are ignoring a central tenant of Christianity … [Jesus] did not say, “Let the children suffer.”
