MSNBC anchor Brian Williams abruptly cut off President Donald Trump’s deranged press conference less than a minute into his remarks after the president falsely claimed he had “easily” won the 2020 election and falsely claimed that the election is being “stolen” from him by Democrats and the media.
“If you count the legal votes, I easily win,” Trump falsely claimed at the start of his press conference Thursday evening. “If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. If you count the votes that came in late, we are looking at them very strongly.”
Trump opens his news conference by saying "if you count the legal vote, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us." This is a lie. There is no evidence of election fraud. pic.twitter.com/BAVSazAmLr

MSNBC immediately cut the president off, telling viewers they had an obligation to cut in when the president is blatantly lying about having won an election that has not been called by any major news network or news publication.
This was the right thing to do. CNN Making the difficult Call of staying with the president who is using the power of his position to spread this information. Damaging. https://t.co/Vu0bWQVsO9

Viewers and journalists applauded the news network for refusing to air Trump’s lies.
“Okay, here we are again in the unusual position of not only interrupting the President of the United States but correcting the President of the United States,” Williams said as he cut off the president.
MSNBC literally had the pres on- heard he was blatantly lying and spreading disinformation and cut him off in 10 seconds.
THANK 👏 YOU👏

“A word about our decision to dive out of the president’s remarks, it was not done as a stunt or out of theatrics. We just can’t have it. It was not rooted in reality and at this point, where our country is, it’s dangerous,” Williams later explained to viewers.
Donald Trump is not telling the truth.
20 seconds into his speech, @MSNBC cut in, corrected the record, and then returned to an interview with Arizona's Secretary of State who also corrected the president and said that there were not illegal votes being counted.
