ATF Responding To Mass Shooting At The Capital Gazette Newsroom In Annapolis, MD, Multiple Fatalities Reported

A lone gunman walked into the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis on Thursday afternoon and opened fire on multiple reporters, “some of whom are dead,” according to police and a reporter who survived the shooting.

Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman also confirmed multiple people were killed in a shooting at the Capital Gazette, a daily newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland, located about 30 miles east of Washington D.C., reports FOX 5.

A sheriff’s deputy has arrested a suspect near the scene, Bateman said, but the sheriff’s department has not released information on that person or whether there may be other suspects outstanding.

Phil Davis, a Capital Gazette reporter, just tweeted: “A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead…Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can’t say much more and don’t want to declare anyone dead, but it’s bad….There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload.”
