Woman Wearing Hijab Killed In Stabbing Right In Front Of Pittsburgh Police Officer

Two women were stabbed, one fatally, right in front of a police officer late Thursday morning in the middle of downtown Pittsburgh, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

An officer was reportedly patrolling the area when he saw a woman sleeping in a bus shelter and went to check on her.

At about 11:30 a.m., a man came up from behind a police officer while he was talking to the woman and stabbed her and a second woman at a Port Authority bus stop, according to police.

The officer immediately disarmed and subdued the suspect, then started applying first aid to the first victim, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

One of the victims was wearing a hijab at the time of the attack.

“The officer took immediate action, got the person down on the ground, got him in custody and then immediately started first aid on female to help her out,” Chief Schubert said.

The first woman was taken to the hospital and later died, while the second woman sustained minor injuries, the Post-Gazette reports.
