White House Photos Show Pence Running ‘Hurricane’ Situation Room While Trump ‘Sits Alone’ At Camp David

New White House photos reveal how President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are responding to the catastrophic flooding that is only expected to worsen in and around the Houston area as Tropical Storm Harvey continues to unleash unprecedented amounts of rainfall over the “Lone Star State.”

Up to 2,000 Houston residents have already been rescued from their homes and cars because of the rapidly rising floodwaters. Houston is the fourth-largest city in the US where about 6.6m people live in the metropolitan area. At least five people have already lost their lives in the storm, and some 30,000 have been displaced and relocated to shelters.

“Closely monitoring Hurricane Harvey from Camp David,” the president tweeted Saturday. “We are leaving nothing to chance. City, State and Federal Govs. working great together!”

Vice President Pence was also photographed making phone calls to Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, and Louisiana Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, to coordinate disaster relief efforts.

That tweet was deleted shortly after it was posted, according to ABC News reporter Meridith McGraw.

The president also took time out of his busy schedule on Sunday morning to fire off several tweets attacking NAFTA and also attacking Mexico for “being one of the highest crime Nations in the world” and renewing his call to build a taxpayer funded border wall.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) ripped the president’s Sunday morning tweet “attacking Democrats” while Tropical Storm Harvey was unleashing catastrophic flooding in Texas.

“My god. At this exact moment people are dying in the worst natural disaster of his Presidency & instead of leading he’s attacking Democrats,” Murphy tweeted.

Murphy’s remarks came in response to Trump’s tweet which appears to take a shot at Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who’s up for a third Senate term in 2018.
