White Customers Tell Spanish-Speaking Burger King Manager To ‘Go Back To Mexico’

Two white women were caught on video telling the Puerto Rican manager of a Burger King restaurant in Florida to “go back to Mexico” after they heard him speaking Spanish to an employee.

Footage of the now-viral interaction shows the two women in a heated exchange with Ricardo Castillo, the general manager of the restaurant located in Eustis.

“When you’re in America, you should speak American English,” one of the women tells Castillo.

“No, ma’am. I don’t,” he responds.

“Yeah, yeah. Go back to Mexico if you want to keep speaking Spanish. Go back to your Mexican country, your state, your country,” one responds.

“Guess what, ma’am. I’m not Mexican. I’m not Mexican, but you’re being very prejudiced, and I want you out of my restaurant right now,” the manager said.

“I’ll finish my meal, and then I’ll leave,” one woman replies.

“You know what? I’ll do it for you, ma’am. I’ll call the cops,” the manager tells the women.

Castillo said the heated exchange began after the women heard him speaking in Spanish with a new employee and complained to him about it.

“I said, ‘Is everything OK? I’ll help you get it fixed,’” he recalled telling the women.

Castillo said that’s when the two women told him they had a problem with him speaking Spanish in the restaurant.

“I’ve never had that experience before,” he said.

Burger King released a statement denouncing discrimination in its restaurants following the incident.

“There is no place for discrimination in our restaurants. We expect employees and guests to treat each other with respect,” the company said in a statement.

“This incident took place at a franchised restaurant and the owner is looking into the matter,” the company added.
