Former President Barack Obama brought lunch and hand-carried cookies for nearly 20 Veterans’ families staying at the Bethesda Fisher Houses on Thursday.
The Fisher House Foundation, best known for its network of 84 comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment, shared photos of Obama’s visit this week.
The foundation wrote: “Former President Barack Obama brought lunch and hand-carried cookies from Dog Tag Bakery for nearly 20 families staying at the Bethesda Fisher Houses. The Obama family has long supported Fisher House and particularly the families Fisher Houses’ serve. Today was no exception, the President spoke with each family, took lots of photos and generated many smiles.”
Hours later, President Trump took to Twitter to mock the victim of a home burglary, House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Elijah Cummings.
Trump sarcastically mocked and appeared to celebrate the reported break-in at Cummings’ Baltimore home, tweeting: “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”

The president had prevously attacked Cummings’ Baltimore district as “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested” and a “very dangerous & filthy place” where “no human being would want to live.”
At his campaign rally in Ohio Thursday night, Trump used Baltimore as a punch line once again when he joked that the city had a higher murder rate than Afghanistan.
