Hours after declaring himself “the chosen one,” President Trump mangled his words on Wednesday while speaking to a supportive audience at the AMVETS conference.
When World War II veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams joined the president on stage during his speech, Trump joked that he wouldn’t mind receiving a Medal of Honor award of his own.
“Nothing like the Medal of Honor,” Trump said on the stage at The Galt House. “I wanted one, but they told me I don’t qualify, Woody. I said, ‘Can I give it to myself anyway?’ They said, ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea.'”
As noted by Vox’s Aaron Rupar, Trump also had a “hard time pronouncing a number of words on Wednesday,” including “Ubsurd,” “Armed Forca,” Appliculble,” “Obstulcles.”
