As many Americans are forced to stay away from their mothers and grandmothers due to coronavirus social distancing guidelines, President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama both issued messages wishing mothers a happy holiday.
But only one president acknowledged what sets this year apart from the rest.
“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!” Trump tweeted in the middle of a 100+ tweet rampage that attacked his predecessor and journalists.

“Even if you can’t give the moms in your life a hug today, I hope you can give them an extra thank you today,” Obama tweeted to his more than 117 million Twitter followers.
“Thank you and Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who makes it all possible. Love you, Michelle Obama,” he added.

The difference did not go unnoticed by social media users.

Maybe Melania told Trump she wanted him to tweet 102 times (yes, 102, so far) as a Mother’s Day present. But I wonder if she wanted him to tweet about Michael Flynn 28 times, Barack Obama 9 times, golf once, Melania once and Mother’s Day (generic) once. pic.twitter.com/0sK0Q0nbla
