Televangelist Pat Robertson on Tuesday warned his The 700 Club audience that God will give up on the United States and allow its enemies to prevail if lawmakers pass the Equality Act, a federal bill that seeks to prohibit discrimination against people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
“If you read the book of Romans, you find a time when the Bible says ‘God gave them up.’ And he gave them up to unclean passions,” the 88-year-old preacher said after a news segment on the Equality Act. “Women lusting for women and men lusting for men like women. And this was the end of the decline against God. It was wherefore God gave them up to unnatural passions, the Bible says. And that’s what’s happening now.”
“When you figure one percent of the population max is lesbian, maybe two percent max is homosexual.”
“Now they got this whole thing about gender transition. And we’ve never had that before. But suddenly, little boys decide they want to get to be girls. And they have these awful surgeries and hormone treatments. The next thing you know, the child says, ‘Wait a minute, I really still want to be a boy.’ And then they want men to go into women’s bathrooms and to women’s locker rooms. And then they want transgender women to compete against the women in sporting events, but really they’re truly male. And the whole thing is chaotic.”
“But this is what’s happening in our country because we’ve lost sight of God,” Robertson continued. “And the Bible says, ‘When there is no vision of God, the people perish.’ Now, you know, that thing, it doesn’t mean vision of pie in the sky and some great work. It means when there’s no revelation of God, the people perish. The people run amok. And we have gone to the point where God will give us up. That’s what the Bible says.”
“We’re threatened by nuclear attacks from Iran and North Korea, cyber attacks from China and Russia… the whole world wants to destroy America and it cannot succeed if the American people will hold onto their faith in God.
“If we give it up, if we give up voluntarily, then there’s no hope for this nation against the enemies trying to destroy us.”
In 2011, Robertson claimed same-sex marriage would bring the wrath of God.
In February, Robertson claimed that gay people are willing to destroy society to protect “their weird way of doing sex.”
Robertson said: “The incredible thing about the homosexuals is they are willing to destroy lives and destroy the whole fabric of society so long as they and their weird way of doing sex is legitimized.
“That’s what they want, and they will take away everything. They will destroy marriage, they will destroy families, they will destroy, in this case, the foster children.
“They are willing to tear down the entire edifice in order to have the majority of people recognize the way they do sex.”
Robertson added that gay people are “taking charge of the rest of us because they are so vocal and dominate legislative bodies.”
