Trump’s IT Director At Homeland Security Dept Abruptly Resigns After Three Months On Job

Richard Staropoli, the chief information officer at the Department of Homeland Security, has abruptly resigned from his position after only three months on the job, DHS confirmed on Monday.

Staropoli, who worked as a Secret Service agent for 25 years, will leave the top information security role in the department at the start of September after.

Deputy chief information officer Stephen Rice will now serve as acting CIO until President Trump appoints a new person to fill the role, a DHS spokesman told The Hill.

It is unclear why Staropoli chose to leave the post, roughly three months after Trump appointed him to the position.
