Trump: Why Hasn’t Mueller Interviewed Campaign Staffers Who Didn’t Have Contact With Russian Agents?

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Monday to lash out at Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading an investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives seeking to influence the 2016 presidential election, complaining that Mueller has neglected to interview “hundreds” of campaign staffers on his presidential campaign who did not have any contact with Kremlin officials.

“Will [Mueller] be putting in statements from hundreds of people closely involved with my campaign who never met, saw or spoke to a Russian during this period?” the president asked in a tweet. “So many campaign workers, people inside from the beginning, ask me why they have not been called (they want to be). There was NO Collusion & Mueller knows it!”

Mueller, understandably, has focused his investigation on Trump associates who had known contacts with the Kremlin, such as former foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, who was ordered by a judge to begin a 14-day sentence Monday for lying to FBI agents.

In his Twitter rant, Trump did not say what he thought the special counsel should ask them, or what information his staffers could provide about a subject they had no involvement in.

Mueller’s probe has so far resulted in the indictments or guilty pleas of more than 30 people, including Papadopoulos, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, ex-campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Manafort deputy Rick Gates.
