Trump, Who’s Had 6 Associates Convicted Of Crimes, Calls Obama Admin ‘Most Corrupt’ In ‘US History’

President Trump continued to lash out at former President Barack Obama on Sunday, calling his administration “the most corrupt and incompetent in U.S. history.”

“The Obama Administration is turning out to be one of the most corrupt and incompetent in U.S. history,” Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

“Remember, he and Sleepy Joe are the reasons I am in the White House!!!” he added.

Many social media users and journalists were quick to note that six associates of President Trump have been convicted of crimes since he took office, all stemming from former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Some of the defendants pleaded guilty, and others were convicted after jury trials.

Trump’s latest attack comes hours after he called Obama a “grossly incompetent” president even as the U.S. COVID-19 death toll topped 90,000.

“Look, he was an incompetent president, that’s all I can say,” Trump told reporters after returning from a weekend at Camp David. “Grossly incompetent.”

Trump’s remarks came after Obama on Saturday criticized the U.S. coronavirus response in a thinly veiled swipe at the Trump administration during a virtual commencement address delivered to historically black colleges and universities.

“More than anything, this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing,” Obama said in his speech. “A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

Obama previously criticized the Trump administration last week, when he called its Covid-19 response “an absolute chaotic disaster” during a private call with supporters who formerly worked for him.

Trump has repeatedly pushed the so-called “Obamagate” conspiracy theory in recent weeks and called for the former president to testify before Congress about the “biggest political crime and scandal in the history of the US.” Trump did not say in his tweet on Thursday what he thinks Obama should testify about.
