Shortly before an angry Trump supporter attacked reporters and camera crews at a rally in El Paso, Texas, last night, President Trump falsely claimed that Democrats allow babies to talk to their parents before they are executed.
Trump was referring to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, who he thanked for taking some of the heat off of his administration last week.
“I like him. He keeps us out of the paper. I like him,” Trump said.
During his monthly radio appearance earlier this month, Northam failed to properly explain a bill that would have loosened restrictions on third-trimester abortions for terminally ill fetuses. Republicans seized on the bungled interview to claim the governor had voiced approval for allowing an infant to die after birth, which current Virginia law and the proposed bill does not allow for.
“The governor stated that he would even allow a newborn baby to come out into the world and wrap the baby and make the baby comfortable,” Trump told the crowd. “And then talk to the mother. And talk to the father and then execute the baby. Execute the baby. Incredible.”
Holy shit — Trump falsely accuses Ralph Northam of saying he supports "a newborn baby [coming] out into the world, and wrap the baby, make the baby comfortable, & then talk to the mother & talk to the father and then execute the baby. Execute the baby!"
