Trump Tells Americans To ‘Stop Watching The Polls’ That Show Him Losing In 2020

Trump Tells Americans To ‘Stop Watching The Polls’ That Show Him Losing In 2020

President Donald Trump on Sunday promoted a tweet by Sinclair’s Eric Boiling urging Americans to “stop watching the polls” as six polls conducted in the last two weeks show Trump’s approval rating falling:

  • AP-NORC puts the President’s approval rating at 36%, down from 38%.
  • Fox News gave Trump a 43% approval rating, a decrease from 46%.
  • Gallup shows Trump’s approval rating at 41%, down from 42% in late July and 44% in early July.
  • Monmouth University pegs Trump’s approval rating at 40%, down from 41%.
  • NBC News/Wall Street Journal found Trump had an approval rating of 43% among all adults, a decrease of 2 points from 45% in July among registered voters and 1 point from 44% in their last poll that surveyed all adults in June.

Trump retweeted Boiling, who wrote: “2016… I warned colleagues to “stop watching the polls, watch the people”. @realDonaldTrump base was coming out of the woodwork and polls couldn’t capture that. I was right, they were humbled.”

Trump on Friday took a swipe at Fox News over the network’s polls, lumping them in with the “phony polls” from other news outlets.

“Other good polls also in fifties, despite only Fake News, and then phony polls by A.P., CNN, NBC and, as always, Fox, who were WAY OFF on 2016 Election!” Trump tweeted tonight.

Major polls taken in the late spring showed President Trump trailing his top Democratic challengers both nationwide and in key states where the 2020 election will be decided.

In June, Trump dismissed a Fox News poll that showed him trailing prospective challengers Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders by 10 and 9 percentage points, respectively.
