Trump supporters attending the White House’s Salute to America event on the South Lawn on Saturday erupted into cheers and applause when President Trump mentioned that the United States “got hit by the virus that came from China.”
While delivering his Fourth of July remarks, Trump told attendees: “We got hit by the virus that came from China!”
A smattering of applause and cheers could be heard coming from the audience.

Despite a rise in coronavirus cases across the United States, many attendees seen at the event did not practice social distancing or wear masks.
The Washington, DC, celebration does not appear to be following US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines concerning gatherings despite deputy White House press secretary Judd Deere telling CNN this week that the White House would enforce social distancing.
