President Donald Trump supporters booed the promotion of face masks and the name of GOP Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine at a Monday rally outside Dayton.
Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, a Republican, entered the stage wearing a red “Trump” mask, saying “I’m trying to make masks in America great again.”
He was met with loud boos.
“Oh, hang on now,” he replied, showing different masks with “MAGA” and “Trump” on them, trying to win the crowd back.

“I can tell you Gov. DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine and my wife Tina and me, we are the co-chairs…” he said before he was interrupted by more boos from the crowd.
“Hang on, I get it,” he restarted. “We are the co-chairs in Ohio of the Trump campaign and we are working every single day to make sure he is victorious.”
DeWine’s administration has required masks in most indoor settings – one of many COVID-19 health orders that don’t sit well with fellow Republicans. Others include closing bars early, delaying the primary election and shuttering businesses early in the novel coronavirus pandemic.
