Trump Skips Arlington Cemetery Visit On Veterans Day. French Embassy Shows Up To Lay Wreath

President Trump on Saturday decided to skip a scheduled ceremony at an American cemetery in France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I due to light rain. The White House said Trump was not able to attend the event “due to scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather.”

The following day, Trump complained about the rain during a speech to veterans and chose a private motorcade through the Champs-Élysées over walking hand-in-hand with other world leaders to the Arc de Triomph.

When the president returned to the U.S. on Monday, Trump was a no-show for a traditional Veterans Day appearance at Arlington National Cemetery, where again, rain was in the forecast.

Early Monday morning, the White House announced to the press that the president would not make any more public appearances for the day. The president instead spent his time pushing conspiracy theories on Twitter undermining the integrity of the Florida election recount and blaming Democrats for falling Stock prices.

France’s U.S. Embassy did show up to Arlington Cemetery on Monday to lay a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Embassy tweeted: “Yesterday we participated in a ceremony at @ArlingtonNatl to honor the sacrifices of soldiers during #WWI by laying a wreath on the tomb of the #UnknownSoldier. #VeteransDay”
