Trump Refuses To Wear Mask At Mask Factory That Requires Masks Be Worn ‘At All Times’

President Donald Trump did not wear a mask as a coronavirus precaution during a visit Tuesday to a Honeywell factory in Phoenix, which is making N95 masks for the federal government’s response to the pandemic.

Other official visitors with the president, who did put on safety glasses for his tour, also were not wearing masks.

Throughout the factory, there were multiple signs instructing employees to wear masks, with one reading: “Please wear your mask at all times.”

Honeywell employees working on the production line were seen wearing masks as the president toured the facility.

A White House official said that the facility had said that the president and the other officials on the tour weren’t required to wear masks while on the tour but should take precautions.

Trump had said earlier Tuesday that he might wear a mask during the visit to the Honeywell plant. Asked before departing for Arizona whether he would be wearing a mask on the tour, Trump responded, “If it’s a mask facility, I will.”

“I don’t know if it’s a mask facility. … We’re going to see Honeywell. They have done an incredible job on many fronts. And so I’m going to pay my respects to a great company and a great state: the state of Arizona,” he said.

“I can think of no better metaphor for this presidency than Donald Trump not wearing a face mask to a face mask factory while the song “Live and Let Die” blares in the background,” tweeted late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
