Trump Promotes Putin’s False Claim That Russia Did Not Interfere In 2016 Election Ahead Of Summit

President Trump took to Twitter to promote Russia’s false claim that it did not interfere in the 2016 presidential election, a claim that the United States intelligence community unanimously rejects.

“Russia continues to say they had nothing to do with Meddling in our Election!” the president said in a tweet just hours before the White House was scheduled to announce an official summit between Trump and Vladimir Putin.

“Where is the DNC Server, and why didn’t Shady James Comey and the now disgraced FBI agents take and closely examine it?” he added. “Why isn’t Hillary/Russia being looked at? So many questions, so much corruption!”

The president’s tweet comes as White House national security adviser John Bolton is in Russia to work out the details of an upcoming summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We did indeed talk about Russian interference in the elections and I expect it will be a subject of conversation between the two presidents as well,” Bolton said after his meeting with Trump’s Russian counterpart on Wednesday.
