Trump Personally Directed Bannon To Refuse Questions From House Intelligence Committee: Report

President Trump was personally involved in the decision to limit the scope of former adviser Steve Bannon’s testimony before the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday and to avoid answering questions about his time in the White House, Foreign Policy reports.

According to the Foreign Policy, Trump made the decision after receiving advice from deputy White House counsel Uttam Dhillon.

Dhillon, however, concluded that Bannon’s executive privilege claim could not be applied when it comes to providing information or testimony to special counsel Robert Mueller.

Bannon refused to answer questions from congressional investigators during a closed-door session Tuesday while his attorney, Bill Burck, relayed questions to the White House in real time via phone to check on whether it would allow Bannon to answer certain questions.
