Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have been asked to give eulogies at Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) funeral, while President Trump has not been invited, The New York Times reported Saturday night.
Two Republicans familiar with the funeral arrangements told the Times that, under initial plans, Vice President Pence has been given an invite to attend the funeral, though President Trump has not.
According to a statement from the senator’s office, Mr. McCain died at 4:28 p.m. local time on Saturday. He had suffered from a malignant brain tumor, called a glioblastoma, for which he had been treated periodically with radiation and chemotherapy since its discovery in 2017.
McCain will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C., and receive a full dress funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral.
