President Trump met in the Oval Office on Thursday with Lionel Lebron, a leading promoter of the right-wing “QAnon” conspiracy theory, which claims Trump is secretly waging a battle against “deep state” agents tied to Hillary Clinton and a Democrat-run global pedophile cult.
The Daily Beast reported on Friday that the YouTube conspiracy theorist was at the White House for an event on Thursday. During the visit, Lebron and his wife posed for a picture with Trump in the Oval Office.
“There simply are no words to explicate this profound honor,” Lebron wrote on Instagram while sharing a photo of him and the president.
Lebron is one of the internet’s leading promoter of a fringe far-right conspiracy theory that, among other things, claims without evidence that the Trump administration “and the military are engaged in a high-stakes shadow war against a globalist pedophile cult. The conspiracy theory has caught on with Trump supporters, who have held up QAnon-related signs and wear QAnon shirts to the president’s rallies.”
Lebron claimed to have received a “special guided tour of the White House” before posing for pictures in the oval office.
The Daily Beast adds:
Lebron used his White House appearance to promote QAnon, tweeting a picture of himself in the White House with QAnon-related hashtags. His visit to the White House comes as other prominent Trump supporters in the media try to push back on QAnon’s spread, claiming it makes Trump voters look ridiculous.
