Trump Kicks Off UK Visit With Twitter Rant Attacking CNN After He’s Unable To Watch Fox & Friends From London

President Trump fired off a pair of angry Monday morning tweets from London complaining about the “unfair” coverage by CNN and calling on his supporters to boycott the cable news network’s corporate parent, AT&T.

“Just arrived in the United Kingdom,” Trump tweeted. “The only problem is that CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn’t owner AT&T do something?”

“I believe that if people stoped [sic] using or subscribing to AT&T, they would be forced to make big changes at CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway,” Trump tweeted. “It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News!”

The Washington Post notes:

Trump was vocal in his opposition to AT&T’s $85 billion acquisition of Time Warner — “too much concentration of power in the hands of too few, he has said. But critics contend his position is intrinsically linked to his ire at CNN.

Last spring, the New Yorker reported that Trump had asked the director of the National Economic Council to persuade the Justice Department to block the combination. Gary Cohn, who held the job at the time, reportedly refused.

Just hours before his arrival in London for a state visit, Trump took to Twitter to lash out at the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, who said the United Kingdom was wrong to “roll out the red carpet” for Trump’s visit.

Trump misspelled Khan’s name, called him a “stone cold loser” and compared him to New York mayor Bill de Blasio.

Trump on Sunday denied that he had called past comments by Duchess Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, “nasty,” despite a recording of his words in an interview with the Sun tabloid.
