In one of his first tweets of the new year, President Donald Trump attacked retired four-star Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal after he criticized the President, wished his “haters” and the “fake news media” a happy new year, again insisted that “Mexico is paying for the wall” and asked presumptive incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to “make a deal” with him “on the wall ‘thing.’ ”
Trump taunted Pelosi about having to deal with the chaos created by his government shutdown as Democrats take over control of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
Democrats are expected to immediately pass a bill to reopen the government without providing the $5 billion the president has requested for his wall with Mexico. Trump, meanwhile, has vowed to hold out and continue the shutdown standoff until he gets funding for the southern structure.
“Border Security and the Wall ‘thing’ and Shutdown is not where Nancy Pelosi wanted to start her tenure as Speaker!” the president wrote.
“Let’s make a deal?” he added.

The House Democratic plan will include one bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security at current levels through Feb. 8, with $1.3 billion for border security. The bill does not include money for Trump’s long-promised border wall that he pledged to make Mexico pay for.
