Trump In Off-The-Rails NRA Speech: ‘I Didn’t Need A Gun’ When I ‘Caught’ FBI ‘Coup’ Plotters

At National Rifle Association annual meeting on Friday, President Trump accused Democrats and special counsel Robert Mueller of attempting to overthrow his administration with a failed ‘coup’ and boasted of having defeated them without a gun.

“They tried for a coup, didn’t work out so well. And I didn’t need a gun for that one, did I?” he said to the Indianapolis crowd. “All was taking place at the highest levels in Washington, D.C. You’ve been watching, you’ve been seeing.”

He continued: “You’ve been looking at things that you wouldn’t have believed possible in our country. Corruption at the highest level. A disgrace. Spying, surveillance, trying for an overthrow. And we caught them. We caught them.”

“America’s future has never been brighter and yet Democrats have never been angrier,” he said. “Especially now that their collusion delusion has been exposed to the world as a complete and total fraud.”

“Far-left radicals in Congress want to take away your voice, your jobs, your rights, and they especially want to take away your guns. You know that,” he said. “They want to take away your guns. You better get out there and vote.”

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday, Trump called Mueller’s Russia probe a “coup” and “an attempted overthrow of the United States government” that is “bigger than Watergate.”

“This was a coup,” Trump said on Thursday night. “This was an attempted overthrow of the United States government.”

Trump then accused Hillary Clinton of “destroying the lives of people that were on our campaign. She’s destroyed their lives.”

Trump then compared the probe to the Watergate scandal which resulted in former President Richard Nixon’s resignation.

“Bigger than Watergate,” Trump said. “Because it means so much. This was a coup. This wasn’t stealing information from an office in the Watergate apartments, this was an attempted coup.”

Trump also claimed the investigation into Russian interference was something that would happen in “a third world country,” before placing blame on both Hillary Clinton and the FBI for the accusations.
