Trump Has Now Told More Than 12,000 Lies As He Angrily Insists All Media Is ‘Dishonest’ And ‘Fake’

The Washington Post on Monday published an analysis piece revealing that President Trump has made 12,019 false or misleading claims during his time in office as of August 5, pointing specifically to Trump’s comments on immigration and the economy.

According to the newspaper, Trump has averaged 20 false claims per day since April 26, when he crossed the 10,000 lie mark.

Approximately one-fifth of the president’s misleading or false claims are about immigration, according to the analysis.

He has falsely claimed 190 times that a wall along the U.S. and Mexico border, one of his central campaign promises, is being built.

Trump has blasted fact-checkers in the past, calling them “some of the most dishonest people in media” at a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas, in February.

Trump has repeatedly attacked the newspaper as “Fake News” and frequently criticized Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, which owns the newspaper.

Trump on Sunday lashed out at the free press, complaining about how “totally dishonest the Fake News Media really is.”

“Think how wonderful it is to be able to fight back and show, to so many, how totally dishonest the Fake News Media really is,” Trump tweeted. “It may be the most corrupt and disgusting business (almost) there is! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
