President Trump told White House reporters he had to leave Wednesday’s White Hosue briefing to take an “emergency phone call” as reporters repeatedly asked him to weigh in on the Breonna Taylor prosecution decision.
After 16 minutes at the White Hosue podium, Trump abruptly cut the question section short and ducked out to make an “emergency phone call,” leaving other White House officials to answer questions on COVID-19.
“I have to leave for an emergency phone call, I’m going to let Scott and Larry finish up,” Trump said as one reporter can could be heard asking the president to comment on the decision. “So I’ll be back. I will see you tomorrow.”
“Excuse me, Excuse me,” Trump told the reporter.
“I have a big call,” Trump said as he left the room.
After he left, the press secretary demanded that the pool “be respectful and show a little bit of decorum.”
