Trump Declares He’s Becoming Victim Of A ‘Coup’ After Warning Of ‘Civil War’ If He’s Impeached

President Donald Trump on Tuesday escalated his attacks of the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, referring to the process as a “coup.”

“As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP,” Trump tweeted.

Trump declared that the investigation into his alleged abuse of power is “intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of The United States of America!”

Trump’s dangerous rhetoric comes less than 48 hours after he quoted a pastor who warned impeaching Trump could trigger a “Civil War-like fracture” in the country.

“‘If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal’,” Trump tweeted.

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) called the president’s “civil war” tweet “repugnant.”

“I have visited nations ravaged by civil war,” Kinzinger tweeted. “I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant.”

Harvard Law professor John Coates claimed the tweet itself was grounds for impeachment.

As noted by Mother Jones, a right-wing militia group called the Oath Keepers weighed in to agree with Trump’s warning.
