President Trump on Tuesday ripped into retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal after the former leader of U.S. operations in Afghanistan called the president “immoral” and dishonest.
Trump said former President Obama fired McChrystal “like a dog” while quoting a tweet from Fox News host Laura Ingraham that shared a post recapping McChrystal’s weekend comments.
“‘General’ McChrystal got fired like a dog by Obama. Last assignment a total bust. Known for big, dumb mouth. Hillary lover!” Trump tweeted on New Year’s Day.

The retired four-star Army general said on ABC’s “This Week” that he would not work for the current administration if asked, citing Trump’s dishonesty.
“It’s important for me to work for people who I think are basically honest, who tell the truth as best they know it,” McChrystal said.
“I don’t think he tells the truth,” he added.
McChrystal has questioned Trump’s decision to send troops to the southern border and has expressed concern over his repeated criticism of former military leaders, such as retired Adm. William McRaven.
