President Donald Trump on Sunday appeared to speak for African-Americans in Virginia about the blackface scandal facing Gov. Ralph Northam, who vowed he is “not going anywhere” despite calls for him to resign.
“African Americans are very angry at the double standard on full display in Virginia!” Trump, who has repeatedly attacked black public officials and celebrities with “low IQ” or “dumb” slurs, tweeted.
Contrary to the president’s claim, a new Washington Post-Schar School poll found that African Americans said by a wide margin that Northam should remain in office despite the emergence of a photo on his 1984 medical school yearbook page depicting people in blackface and Ku Klux Klan garb. The poll found that 58 percent of black residents supported Northam staying in office.
Twitter users blasted the president for attempting to “speak for” black people given his previous attacks of prominent African-Americans.
The guy who called Maxine Waters "Low IQ," Don Lemon the "dumbest man on television," and LeBron James even dumber — and who accused a black gold-star widow of lying — wants people to believe he is really plugged in to the thoughts and concerns of the African American community

There are a lot of things you can and should do. One of the things you SHOULD NEVER do is purport to speak for African Americans – EVER.
