Another agent outside the room locked the doors as the White House went on lockdown.
The lockdown at the White House right now is not uncommon -happened several times when I worked in the press corps – usually a suspicious package. A few times someone went over the fence but it's much harder to do that now. What I never saw was POTUS get pulled on live TV.

When Trump returned the podium a few minutes later, he informed reporters that someone had been shot outside the White House by Secret Service agents.
“It seems that the person was shot by Secret Service, so we’ll see what happens,” Trump said.
“The world has always been a dangerous place,” Trump said. “Not something that is unique. You look back over the centuries, the world has been a dangerous place, very dangerous place, and it will continue, I guess, for a period of time.”
Deep thoughts with Trump: "The world has always been a dangerous place. Not something that is unique. You look back over the centuries, the world has been a dangerous place, very dangerous place, and it will continue, I guess, for a period of time." pic.twitter.com/pQfjDSW6Xw
