Trump Brags His Coronavirus Briefings Are ‘A Ratings Hit’ Like ‘The Bachelor’ As Death Toll Hits 2,300

President Donald Trump on Sunday took to Twitter to brag about his daily coronavirus daily White House press briefings which are a “ratings hit,” drawing a similar viewership as “the season finale of ‘The Bachelor.’ ”

Trump’s boast came as the U.S. coronavirus death toll soared to 2,300 and total confirmed cases climbed above 131,000, the highest number of known cases of coronavirus in the world.

Trump’s boastful tweet included a quote from a March 25 New York Times article titled, ‘Trump’s Briefings Are a Ratings Hit. Should Networks Cover Them Live?’

Trump’s tweet was immediately condemned on Twitter, including by Dr. Krutika Kuppalli who noted people were likely tuning in to gather life-saving information from Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“Is this for real? Just when I think it can’t get worse it does and FYI @realDonaldTrump I guarantee that 99.9% of people are tuning in to watch the ONLY person on that stage who knows what he is talking about, #DrFauci. He is a #Nationalhero,” Kuppalli, an infectious disease specialist in La Jolla, Calif., tweeted.

Another Twitter user wrote: “You’re excited about ratings? People are tuning in to see when they’ll die.”
