Trump Attacks Press As The ‘ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE’ As Coronavirus Outbreak Worsens

As new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Washington, California, New York and Rhode Island on Sunday raised fears of a wider spread of the disease in the U.S., President Trump lashed out at the media, labeling the free the “ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE.”

“People are disgusted and embarrassed by the Fake News Media, as headed by the @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @comcast & MSDNC, @ABC, @CBSNews and more,” Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

“They no longer believe what they see and read, and for good reason,” Trump said, adding, “Fake News is, indeed, THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!”

President Donald Trump blasted cable news outlets last week, claiming that MSNBC and CNN are “doing everything” to make the coronavirus “look as bad as possible,” and as result, are panicking the markets.

The tweet seemed to counter a recent warning by his own CDC and also included an embarrassing typo that misspelled the looming pandemic as “Caronavirus.”

Trump attacked CNN on Friday for “doing everything they can to instill fear in people” and referred to the criticism from Democrats and the media over the White House’s coronavirus response as “their new hoax.”.

White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said Friday at CPAC that the media is using the coronavirus news in an attempt to “bring down the president,” just as they did with their impeachment “hoax of the day” coverage.

Donald Trump Jr. claimed on Friday that Democrats want “millions” of Americans to die of the coronavirus.

“Anything that they can use to try to hurt Trump, they will,” Trump Jr. told Fox News. “But for them to try to take a pandemic and seemingly hope that it comes here and kills millions of people so that they could end Donald Trump’s streak of winning is a new level of sickness.”
