Meghan McCain Rips Trump For Attacking Her Father, John McCain, Months After His Death

President Trump launched an attack on the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Saturday for voting with Democrats against the Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act “after years of campaigning to repeal and replace” the legislation, just months after the senator died from brain cancer.

McCain was the third Republican to vote against the bill to replace the Affordable Care Act, former President Obama’s signature legislative accomplishment, in 2017.

“Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier ‘is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain,’ ” Trump said, apparently quoting former Ken Starr.

“He had far worse ‘stains’ than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!” the president continued.

The tweet is Trump’s second criticism of McCain in recent months.

The president reportedly told a group of news anchors during an off-the-record meeting last month that the late Arizona Republican’s memoir in which McCain was critical of Trump “bombed.”

Meghan McCain defended her father, tweeting: “No one will ever love you the way they loved my father…. I wish I had been given more Saturday’s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?”

CBS White House reporter Kathryn Watson noted: “The president has harsher language for a dead war hero than he does for dictator Kim Jong Un.”

CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta tweeted: “Been covering Trump for three years now. Will never quite understand how the GOP tolerates his attacks on McCain, Bushes and Romney. The GOP just shrugs its shoulders.”
