During a campaign rally Friday night, President Trump mocked “poor bastard” Beto O’Rourke hours after the former Texas congressman announced he was dropping out of the Democratic presidential race.
“Oh did you hear? Beto,” Trump told supporters during a campaign rally in Mississippi.
“Oh, that poor bastard. Poor pathetic guy. He was pathetic,” he said.
The president mocked O’Rourke for his failed Senate run against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and his emphatic arm gestures.
“Does he ever stand on the floor and speak?” Trump said. “He’s waving his arms and going crazy, and I said, ‘What the hell is [he] doing? What is he on?'”

Trump also ripped into O’Rourke over a quote he gave to Vanity Fair at the outset of his campaign, in which he said, “Man, I’m just born to be in it.”
“Anybody who says they were born for this, they’re in trouble,” Trump said.
The president also called Jewish Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, “Shifty Schiff,” an attack Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez previously called an “atrocious, targeted anti-Semitism” by the president.
As the NY Daily News notes, the “centuries-old anti-Semitic stereotype holds that Jews are sneaky and cannot be trusted, making the ‘Shifty Schiff’ perjorative particularly problematic.”
Trump has repeatedly branded the impeachment leader “Shifty Schiff” and called him, Jerrold Nadler and AOC’s progressive squad “Savages.”
