Trump Ally Alex Jones Says Donald Trump Jr. Was Just ‘Doing His Job’ Hunting Down ‘Russian Spies’

As the shockwaves from Donald Trump Jr.’s email disclosure spread through most right wing media sites on Tuesday, at least one Trump ally had a very odd way to explain away Trump Jr.’s agreement to meet with a “Russian government attorney” about “very high level and sensitive information” that would “incriminate” Hillary Clinton: He was just “doing his job” by “trying to find Russian spies.”

Alex Jones, the InfoWars founder who frequently peddles conspiracy theories, delivered the bizarre and completely unfounded claim on The Alex Jones Show Tuesday afternoon.

Jones told his viewers:

I was just watching during the break Democrat senators flipping out on CNN going, “This is incredibly serious, Donald Jr., Russians did influence the election.” Because they met with one lady who wanted to talk about sanctions. They’re like, “No, we want to talk about Russian connections to Hillary” — which are now confirmed. That’s Donald Jr. doing his job. So that he’s trying to find Russian spies, he is now a Russian spy. So that’s coming up. All these wars tie together.

Fox News host Sean Hannity, who has been one of Donald Trump’s most loyal and vocal supporter on cable news, took to his radio show on Tuesday to attack what he called the media’s “breathless” coverage of the latest revelations surrounding Donald Trump Jr.

Hannity dismissed the emails saying they did nothing to support the theory that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians during the 2016 presidential election.

“If Donald Trump himself was colluding with Vladimir Putin and the Russians, why would he need his son to act as an intermediary?” Hannity asked his millions of listeners, according to CNN.
