After President Trump claimed on Twitter that Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) dropped out of his reelection bid because Trump wouldn’t endorse him, the top Republican fired back, tweeting: “Same untruths from an utterly untruthful president. #AlertTheDaycareStaff.”

In a Tuesday morning interview, the top Republican senator warned that Trump is taking actions that could take the country on a “path to combat.”
“Really, when you look at the fact that we’ve got this issue in North Korea and the president continues to kneecap his diplomatic representative, the secretary of State, and really move him away from successful diplomatic negotiations with China, which is key to this, you’re taking us on a path to combat,” Corker said.
Trump fired off a series of early morning tweets attacking the Tennessee Republican.
“Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts,” Trump tweeted.
“Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!”
In an interview with CNN in a Senate hallway shortly after the tweets, Corker said that he wouldn’t support President Trump in another election, saying Trump is “unable to rise to the occasion.”
“Let’s just put in this way, I would not do that again. …I think [Trump]’s proven himself unable to rise to the occasion,” Corker responded when asked if he regretted supporting him in the 2016 presidential race.
“Unfortunately I think world leaders are very aware that much of what he says are untrue,” he told CNN’s Manu Raju. “I don’t know why he lowers himself to such a low standard. It debases our country… will be what he’ll be remembered most for.”

“Everything [Trump] said today was absolutely untrue,” he added.
Pressed if he thought Trump was a liar, Corker said: “The president has great difficulty with the truth on many issues.”
When asked whether he considered Trump to be a good role model for children, Corker responded with a quick “No.”
Earlier this month, Corker referred to Trump’s White House as an “adult day care center” and warned that Trump’s actions could lead the country on a path to World War III.
