Tonight Show Writer Fires Back At Trump’s Call For ‘Equal Time’ During Monologues: ‘Stop Tweeting Nonsense’

The head writer and producer of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” fired back at President Trump’s call for “equal time” on TV to respond to comedians’ anti-Trump jokes, telling Trump “that’s not how it works” and adding “now kindly stop tweeting nonsense and go do your job for once.”

“That’s not how it works. You’re not campaigning. You’re the president,” Mike DiCenzo tweeted. “Now kindly stop tweeting nonsense and go do your job for once.”

Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to attack late-night comedians for their “unfunny and repetitive material” and suggested Republicans should receive “equal time” in response.

“Late Night host[s] are dealing with the Democrats for their very ‘unfunny’ & repetitive material, always anti-Trump!” Trump tweeted. “Should we get Equal Time?”

“More and more people are suggesting that Republicans (and me) should be given Equal Time on T.V. when you look at the one-sided coverage?” he added.

As noted by The Hill, Trump’s tweets came about an hour after Fox News’s “Fox and Friends” aired a segment accusing late-night of “[taking] a hard turn to the left.”
