Senate Intel Committee Demands Trump Campaign To Turn Over All Documents: Report

The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked President Trump’s campaign to gather and turn over all of its Russia-related emails, documents, and phone records as it continues its investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, reports The Washington Post.

The committee had reportedly sent a letter signed by committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and ranking Democrat Sen. Mark Warner (Va.) to Trump’s campaign committee last week.

Dozens of former staffers are expected to be contacted in the coming days to make sure they are aware of what they are required to produce and how to submit those documents, the people added.

The request to Trump’s political operatives represents the first time that Trump’s official campaign structure has been drawn into the Senate committee’s ongoing bipartisan investigation. That investigation is separate from the federal probe being led by the Justice Department’s special counsel, former FBI director Robert S. Mueller III.

The Post notes that dozens of former staffers are “expected to be contacted in the coming days to make sure they are aware of what they are required to produce and how to submit those documents, the people added.”
