Sen. McCain Returning Home To Arizona, Will Miss Vote On Final GOP Tax Bill: Report

GOP Sen. John McCain is returning home to Arizona and will miss the final vote on his party’s tax bill this week after being hospitalized for side effects of his brain cancer treatment, CBS News reported Sunday.

The 81-year-old Arizona Senator had spent several days at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland recovering from side effects from chemotherapy treatment for brain cancer.

CBS reports that he will not be on hand for the final vote on the GOP tax passage expected for early this week.

According to The Hill: “Republicans have won over two key votes for the measure, meaning they should still have the razor-thin majority needed to pass the bill.”

The senator’s daughter, Meghan McCain, tweeted: “Thank you to everyone for their kind words. My father is doing well and we are all looking forward to spending Christmas together in Arizona. If you’re feeling charitable this Christmas @HeadfortheCure or @NBTStweets to help find a cure for brain cancer is what I recommend.”
