Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said on Monday that she agrees with President Trump in that the House-passed GOP healthcare bill is “mean,” using his own words against him.
Democrats held the Senate floor to protest the Republicans’ writing their Obamacare repeal bill in secret behind closed doors.
“Even though the authors of this bill have tried to conceal their plan this bill would be nothing short of disaster. We’ve been told it’s about 80 percent the same as the bill passed by the House. A bill so catastrophic that even the president, who hailed its passage, now called it ‘mean,'” said Harris.
Trump reportedly criticized the House bill during a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans last week, urging them to make their proposal more generous.
Trump had previously praised the House legislation during a celebratory press conference with Republican lawmakers after they passed the bill in May, calling it a “great plan”.
Just asked the Senate to proceed to the “No Hearing, No Vote Act” so we can know what’s in GOP's bill.
