Seattle Public Radio Station Will No Longer Air Trump Briefings Over ‘Pattern Of False’ Information

KUOW, a public radio station in Washington state, will no longer air White House press briefings on the coronavirus “due to a pattern of false or misleading information provided that cannot be fact checked in real time.”

Their decision comes as President Trump faces growing criticism for contradicting his own public health officials.

“KUOW is monitoring White House briefings for the latest news on the coronavirus — and we will continue to share all news relevant to Washington State with our listeners,” the station said in a tweet.

“However, we will not be airing the briefings live due to a pattern of false or misleading information provided that cannot be fact checked in real time,” it added.

Trump has also been criticized for downplaying the threat the virus posed to the nation earlier on, publicly claiming in late February that the virus would go from 15 confirmed cases “down to close to zero.”

“[W]hen you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done,” Trump said at the time.

Washington is one of the states hardest-hit by the virus, with nearly 2,500 confirmed cases as of Wednesday. There are now more than 55,000 confirmed cases in the U.S.
