Schumer: Trump Threw ‘Temper Tantrum’ In Shutdown Meeting, ‘Slammed The Table’ And Walked Out

United States Democrat Congressional leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi ripped into President Donald Trump on Wednesday for his “temper tantrum” during their joint meeting on border security.

Schumer, speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill following the meeting, said, “again, we saw a temper tantrum.” Trump’s behavior was “unbecoming of a presidency,” Schumer added.

“When leader Pelosi said we didn’t agree with the wall, he [Trump] walked out and said we have nothing to discuss,” Schumer told reporters following the failed meeting with the president.

Schumer also accused the president of slamming the table and walking “out of the meeting” after not getting his way. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy denied that Trump slammed the table, and said that the president brought pieces of candy to the meeting attendees.

“Many federal workers will not be receiving their paychecks, and what that means in their lives is tragic … the president seems to be insensitive to that,” Pelosi said after the meeting. “He thinks maybe they could just ask their father for more money. But they can’t.”

“If you don’t understand financial insecurity, then you would have a policy that takes pride in saying ‘I’m going to keep government shut down for months or years unless you totally agree to my position,’” Pelosi added.

Meanwhile, Trump took to Twitter to voice his own frustration after the meeting, calling it a “waste of time.”
