Running Scared: Trump Calls Himself The Victim Of A ‘Witch Hunt’ In Misspelled Twitter Meltdown

In a pair of early morning tweets, President Donald Trump lashed out at news that a special prosecutor had been appointed to oversee the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special councel (sic) appointed!” the president tweeted, misspelling “counsel”.

Trump fired off a second tweet calling the special counsel appointed to him “the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!”

The Justice Department on Wednesday appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to lead the investigation into allegations that his campaign collaborated with Russia to sway the 2016 election. Mueller will have sweeping powers and the authority to prosecute any crimes he uncovers.

Hours before his unhinged Thursday morning Twitter rant, Trump issued a statement Wednesday night declaring: “A thorough investigation will confirm what we already know — there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluding quickly.”
