A local reporter and photojournalist in Chattanooga, Tennessee, were threatened with arrest by Whitfield County deputies and thrown out of the premises when the reporter tried to ask U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) a question during a town hall meeting in Dalton.
A Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputy escorted WCRB reporter Meredith Aldis and her crew out of a public town hall meeting Wednesday night, one of three town halls Greene is hosting this week across the district. District 14 citizens were asked to register for the event and submit questions for Greene ahead of time.
“Greene’s office invited the media to the event, including Channel 3’s crew which had credentials to attend,” WCRB reported. “Once on property, members of the media were told they would not be permitted to speak to anyone attending or ask any questions.”
WCRB reporter Meredith Aldis took to Twitter on Thursday to report she had been “threatened to be arrested” for daring to ask the disgraced lawmaker a question.
“I tried to ask a question during the Town Hall meeting and was threatened to be arrested by Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputies and was escorted out,” Aldis tweeted.

Before being ejected, Aldis reported that Greene discussed the recent headlines over her Facebook posts, made before being elected to Congress, that indicated her support of violence against prominent Democrats. Channel 3’s reporter attempted to ask a question of Greene about the posts, but Greene said she was there to talk to her constituents.
Greene railed against her chamber as the “House of Hypocrites,” and vowed to press on with her effort to impeach President Joe Biden.
Greene, a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory, sparked widespread outrage this week after posting a video of herself harassing Parkland shooting survivor and activist David Hogg.
Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) has announced his intent filed a resolution seeking her expulsion from the House.
