A Cleveland police officer was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted kidnapping, assault and endangering children after allegedly trying to kidnap a 12-year-old girl and filming himself urinating on her while she waited at a bus stop.
Officer Solomon Nhiwatiwa, 34, was charged with attempted kidnapping, pandering obscenity, disseminating material harmful to juveniles, assault, endangering children, child enticement, interfering with custody and public indecency.
Nhiwatiwa, who is being held in jail without bond, has been suspended without pay until the case has concluded, Cleveland.com reported.
“He will be held accountable,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said. “It’s my office’s mission to ensure he never wears the badge of a police officer again.”
O’Malley said that the incident occurred after Nhiwatiwa drove past the girl as she waited at a school bus stop last Friday, NBC News noted.
Nhiwatiwa allegedly asked the child if she needed a ride, before driving off after she rejected his offer.
Nhiwatiwa allegedly returned just a minute later and approached the girl. He is accused of exposing his genitals to her and urinating on her.
O’Malley said that “it appeared he was filming himself on his cellphone” during the incident.
The girl’s mother reported the incident to police, Cleveland.com reported.
