The New Yorker on Thursday released portions of the controversial interview between its Washington correspondent, Ryan Lizza, and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
Scaramucci called former chief of staff Reince Priebus a “f—ing paranoid schizophrenic.”
He also criticized the White House chief strategist, saying “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own c—.”
“In 20 years of doing this I’ve never had a phone conversation like that,” Lizza said while speaking with New Yorker editor David Remnick on “The New Yorker Radio Hour” podcast.
“I just stood there shaking my head saying ‘that is the most unusual conversation I have ever had with a senior government official.'”
The Hill added:
Scaramucci said he was largely “joking” in the interview, and that while it may have been on the record, “the spirit of it was off.”
Lizza said that “there were no ground rules set,” and he called Scaramucci before the interview was published.
